I have a number of pairs of Balega socks which I’ve worn for running, and the Soft Tread is my favorite overall. Here’s a few comparative thoughts.

They live up to the hype.

I made fun of people who have dedicated right and left socks. I also made fun of people who wouldn’t stop raving about Balega socks. (I spend a lot of time with runners–ultra and marathon types, so socks are a common topic… we are an exciting bunch.) Anyway, I will keep my mouth shut now, because these are indeed magical. I don’t know how to describe them other than “silky,” but that’s the sensation you get with them, and it is pretty great. But beware, this is a gateway sock, and in all likelihood you will soon need another 6 pair for the rest of the days of the week.

I love my balegas, specifically this style without extra cushioning. I have really high arches so I love the arch support in the socks. They are very durable; I get quite a few runs out of each pair. In contrast, I wore a pair of feetures today that didn’t provide the same level of support and left my feet hurting for about two hours after I got home. That never happens when I wear balegas. I highly recommend these socks.

excellent. Best $12 sock on the market

I mean, c’mon! They’re just socks, right? Well, apparently no, they’re something more. These amazing little foot wrappers feel like no sock I’ve ever worn, and it makes me wonder just what the hell I’ve been doing with my life until now. The rave reviews are spot on and just like all the other addicts here, I tried a single pair, then promptly turned around and ordered 9 more pairs. Donning these things is like wearing a foot hug. They’re incredibly soft, yet not at all flimsy. I’m guessing there’s some lycra/spandex built into the fabric and this greatly contributes to the fabulously perfect fit. This is sock technology at its best.

These are my favorite running socks

These are my favorite running socks. They breathe well and allow for just enough extra room in my shoes in the summer when my feet swell, thus preventing the dreaded black toenail. Prior to using this sock, I had three black toenails. The sock I used previously bunched up a little at the toes and became too thick on runs of 6 miles or more. I had even sized up a whole size with my running shoes and switching to these socks cleared up those issues. I have very small feet and these socks indeed feel like a second skin as they hug my whole foot. I love them so much that I started using them for my bootcamp classes too. The tab in the back has just enough cushion to prevent the back from sliding into the shoe. They also come in some really fun colors and it’s been nice to move away from the typical white or black socks.

Soft and comfortable, but slippery!

These socks have got to be the most comfortable things I have ever put on my feet. I bought several pair for a recent trip to Europe, knowing that we would be doing a lot of walking. About an hour into the first day, though, I had to take them off because my feet were slipping so badly inside my shoes. Over the next two weeks I went sock-less, because they were just too slippery. Maybe it was the shoes. Maybe it was the socks. I just know that combination doesn’t work. I’m sure I will wear them, but since I live in Florida I rarely wear socks anyway.

These socks are wonderful! I have been distance running for several years …

These socks are wonderful! I have been distance running for several years and they are my go-to socks. I like that they are moisture wicking and that the low cut style keeps my ankles cooler in the hot summer months. I originally used Feetures running socks a few years ago and switched because these are much softer and more comfortable. I do not get any blistering, chafing, or “hot spots” using them but they are still soft on my feet. They also seem to hold up in the wash better (retaining softness).

I used to buy whatever sock was thin and cheap. A sock is a sock, right? Turns out I was wrong.

Soooooo Comfortable

I usually don’t spend much on socks and just get low cut sports socks at Target. I barely fit into them because I am a size 10 shoe in women’s. I decided recently to get professionally fitted for running/sprinting shoes at Runner’s Depot. I got an AMAZING pair of shoes there which fit like a dream. I realized the socks I normally wear were actually too small (they were pulling a bit on my toes) and it started to annoy me, so I decided I would try some different socks to go with my new running shoes. I ordered these in the hopes that the size and comfort would be what I wanted (thin for running). WOW. These are the most comfortable socks I have ever put on. I haven’t gone running in them yet, but I will update as soon as I go out for another run. I ordered the large and I have plenty of room in my toe area without there being any excess material. I can tell the socks would stretch and easily fit a larger foot and still be comfortable. Very excited to try them out.
