I have a number of pairs of Balega socks which I’ve worn for running, and the Soft Tread is my favorite overall. Here’s a few comparative thoughts.

They live up to the hype.

I made fun of people who have dedicated right and left socks. I also made fun of people who wouldn’t stop raving about Balega socks. (I spend a lot of time with runners–ultra and marathon types, so socks are a common topic… we are an exciting bunch.) Anyway, I will keep my mouth shut now, because these are indeed magical. I don’t know how to describe them other than “silky,” but that’s the sensation you get with them, and it is pretty great. But beware, this is a gateway sock, and in all likelihood you will soon need another 6 pair for the rest of the days of the week.

These are my favorite running socks

These are my favorite running socks. They breathe well and allow for just enough extra room in my shoes in the summer when my feet swell, thus preventing the dreaded black toenail. Prior to using this sock, I had three black toenails. The sock I used previously bunched up a little at the toes and became too thick on runs of 6 miles or more. I had even sized up a whole size with my running shoes and switching to these socks cleared up those issues. I have very small feet and these socks indeed feel like a second skin as they hug my whole foot. I love them so much that I started using them for my bootcamp classes too. The tab in the back has just enough cushion to prevent the back from sliding into the shoe. They also come in some really fun colors and it’s been nice to move away from the typical white or black socks.

I used to buy whatever sock was thin and cheap. A sock is a sock, right? Turns out I was wrong.

Soft and comfortable, but slippery!

These socks have got to be the most comfortable things I have ever put on my feet. I bought several pair for a recent trip to Europe, knowing that we would be doing a lot of walking. About an hour into the first day, though, I had to take them off because my feet were slipping so badly inside my shoes. Over the next two weeks I went sock-less, because they were just too slippery. Maybe it was the shoes. Maybe it was the socks. I just know that combination doesn’t work. I’m sure I will wear them, but since I live in Florida I rarely wear socks anyway.

The best!

I’m a big ‘ol fan of the cutesy/fun socks from Target but man did they give me blisters when I started running/racing. I switched to these (and Bombas) and I’m so happy I did! These are great socks that actually give you a little support and a ton of cushion without making your feet feel like they’re suffocating. A running friend recommended them to me and I have to say I’m never going back. The fun Target socks will just have to go with the casual converse from now on. Huge fan!

and probably my favorite. this model is the most light weight

my 3rd pair of balega socks, and probably my favorite. this model is the most light weight. other models are a little thicker, although they don’t cause your feet to overheat. these just feel amazing when you put them on, and they stay in place and perform great even after an hour of intensity on the courts.

Very good running sock

I really like this brand of running socks. I bought the medium which fits a size 8 women’s shoe size. It is a snug tight fitting sock, but it is suppose to be. Very well made and though they are pricey they keep their shape and they feel good.

I used to wear ‘Feetures’ socks which I liked but then I bought my first pair of Balegas and have fell in love ever since. I’ve already bought several pairs and they are the most comfortable running socks ever! They are sooo soft and fit sooo well. They don’t squeeze my feet like some running socks and my feet stay comfortable all day long. No blisters whatsoever.

I screwed up, I thought I was ordering three sets of socks for this price. I was initially going to send it back, but I started reading the literature included and tried on the socks. They are really great socks! I bought them for someone that isn’t a runner but he really appreciated the quality. I might order a pair for myself.
